Mosaic Works
Joshua Tree Artist Residency
For several months in the years 2021-2022, I participated in an artists’ residency on a private property in Joshua Tree, Entropy Ranch, applying tile and mirror to a yurt. This was my first attempt at cutting glass and stone to get this effect.
The owner of the property built the structure not only as a place to sleep out in the desert, but also the added intention as piece of artwork:
“This is not just any yurt, it’s a Space Yurt! The idea being that a space ship crash landed in the earth and now it’s being absorbed by it! Melting into the rocks!”
If you like, skip to the last of the gallery and there’s a video with a short introduction and full walkthrough of the nearly completed project.
